Recently, kn Raghavan, executive director of the Indian rubber board, said that the gap between India's natural rubber production and consumption should be narrowed to reduce the import scale. In the current fiscal year, the Bureau estimated that the rubber production was 790000 tons, while the consumption was 1.19 million tons, the supply gap was 400000 tons, and the Indian rubber production was less than the consumption.
Raghavan said that the tire and non tire industries showed relatively strong growth momentum. The growth of rubber consumption in the future may lead to the increase of India's import scale. Therefore, growers should immediately consider the long-term and short-term strategies proposed by the authority to increase rubber production.
In terms of short-term strategies, such as the adoption of good agricultural practices, the promotion of rainproof and disease management, and the improvement of rubber cutting methods are important themes to improve production. In terms of long-term strategy, expanding new and supplementary planting of rubber plantations, replanting high-yield rubber varieties in old and old plantations, and planting suitable rubber varieties in Northeast and other regions are the long-term plans that can be taken to increase the output of natural rubber in the country.
