1. Composition of rubber
Rubber products are composed of raw rubber and an appropriate amount of compounding agent.
(1) Raw rubber natural or synthetic rubber without compounding agent or unvulcanized is collectively referred to as raw rubber. Natural rubber has good comprehensive properties, but its output can not meet the needs of industry and some special performance requirements. Therefore, synthetic rubber is widely used.
(2) The substances added in order to improve and improve the various properties of rubber products are called compounding agents. The compounding agent mainly includes vulcanization thorn, filler, vulcanization accelerator, plasticizer, anti-aging wattle and foaming agent.
① The vulcanizing agent is similar to the curing agent in thermosetting plastics. It forms a horizontal chain between rubber molecular chains, properly crosslinks and becomes a network structure, so as to improve the mechanical and physical properties of rubber. Sulfur and sulfide are commonly used.
② Fillers are used to improve the mechanical properties of rubber, such as strength, hardness, wear resistance and rigidity. The fillers commonly used are carbon black and textiles, fibers, and even metal wires or metal braids as skeleton materials. Adding filler can also reduce the amount of raw rubber and reduce the cost of rubber.
③ Other compounding agents can accelerate the vulcanization process and improve the vulcanization effect; Plasticizer is used to increase the plasticity of rubber and improve the molding process performance; Antioxidant is to prevent or delay rubber aging.
2. Characteristics and application of rubber products
Rubber products have the characteristics of high elasticity, high resilience, high strength and high wear resistance. Its elastic modulus is very low, only 1-10mpa, and its elastic deformation is very large, up to 100% ~ 1000%. It has excellent flexibility and energy storage capacity. In addition, it has good wear resistance, sound insulation, damping and insulation. However, the rubber has poor heat resistance and cold resistance (sticky in case of high temperature and brittle in case of cold), and will dissolve in solvent.
Return rubber can be used in industry to make tires, dynamic and static seals, vibration damping and anti vibration parts, transmission belts, transportation belts and pipes, wires, cables, electrical insulation materials and braking parts.
